The Jaguar sophomore football team from Kimball High had a tough time getting its game started at Christopher High School in Gilroy Friday, where the home team Cougars took a 27-7 win.

Kimball coach Dave Brown said that his team played a good first half, which ended with the Christopher Cougars in the lead 6-0. Kimball got on the scoreboard in the third quarter when Elisha Mitchell made a 32-yard run into the end zone, but the Cougars stayed in control after that to score three more touchdowns and a field goal.

Brown said that his team also suffered from turnovers and penalties, which prevented the Jaguars from launching all but the one scoring drive.

In all Mitchell covered 67 yards on 11 carries, and quarterback Austin Griffith ran the ball for 54 yards and completed four of nine passes.

The Jaguars are now at 0-3, with their next game on the road at Granite Bay on Thursday.
