The Taste of Tracy series will return Friday night for its final installment, featuring Tracy’s own Main Street jazz band.

About 10 local restaurants and wineries will set up at the event, held from 6 to 8 p.m. at 333 Civic Center Plaza. For $10, patrons 21-and-older can get seven food and three drink tastings of downtown Tracy establishments.

The city started this event July 31, in hopes that people would be more motivated to dine or drink at local restaurants after the event is over.

“It’s been so wonderful,” Tracy recreation supervisor Kim Scarlata said. “That’s the whole goal … to take this stimulus money and make an impact in the community.”

Scarlata said that she’s received rave reviews from restaurants such as M & J Bistro, who told her that business has boomed since the start of the series.

“We’ve had so many positive comments and feedback of how nice to be able to come out on a Friday night and spend $10 and have great food, some nice wine tasting and listen to some great live music,” Scarlata said.

Also, on Friday night, people can also be the first to get tickets for October’s Tracy Wine Stroll, which has live music and wine from the city and other spots in the San Joaquin Valley.

Tickets are available at the Parks and Community Services Department, 400 E. 10th St.

Nope. The tickets were for businesses in downtown Tracy to participate there. The event didn't take place inside the City Hall. But it was a great idea and showed that the city of Tracy can be successful at this. There are budding restaurants and wineries in Tracy. Kudos to them for starting this. I'm sure it will benefit local businesses and sales revenue. We learned about new businesses while there and were pleased.

Was great! Yes, keep it going. Also let's spread it out into the downtown as well. If we're still hungry just pay another ten dollars or the obvious. Kudos to the city and the businesses who participated!
