EDITOR,

There is a phone(y) town hall meeting today at 6 p.m., sponsored by Rep. Jerry McNerney. Why not a real town hall meeting? It looks like he is afraid to face his constituents.

Call McNerney’s office to sign up on the phone list to be part of the phone(y) town hall meeting. Make sure your voice is heard regarding this proposed complete federal government takeover of our national health care.

Guess what? Morgan Hill and San Martin are parts of this Congressional District. You may not know it, you may not like it, but it is true. Jerry comes down here often. In fact, he flies back to our district every weekend while in Congress is in session. You didn't know that either, did you? Well, I love freedom of speech and I support our President's Health Reform Plan. It will pass this year, wait and see!

I posted a comment tonight, but it wasn't here, so I'll try again. San Martin is past Morgan Hill on 101, south of San Jose. It is a small rural town. Yes, McN was in Mountain House on Sat, but I had to be out of town. Maybe he went to both events. Either way, he hasn't answered my emails or phone calls to his office from the past week. He will vote with his marching orders from Nancy. We in his district have nothing to do with how he will vote. Hence...phone(y) mtgs suffice. Thanks for the info on the past phone(y) mtg.

YES we all need to remember this, and make sure this is his last term to represent us.

Sorry I went out of town on Sat, and just returned. San Martin is a small town past Morgan Hill on 101. Yes, McNerney was in Mountain House on Sat., but maybe he attended both events. I have called and emailed his offices in the past week. No response. He has his mind made up. He doesn't want to hear from us, only his marching orders from Nancy.

Thanks for the details of the phone(y) mtg.

Nope, never been to San Martin before. In fact, I never even heard of San Martin before now.

That must be one way to confuse the contituency and keep them at bay? Huh, Jerry McNerney?

Where in the world is, Jerry McNerney hiding?

Stop hiding and give Tracy, CA a Town Hall meeting, Jerry!

Not a "PHONEY" meeting.

Don't tell us you are afraid of someone sticking their tounge out?

Like this, Jerry McNerney.

:P

By the way - anyone ever been to San Martin? I get the feeling he's choosing the smallest, most remote public venues in the 11th district to avoid having to confront his constituents on healthcare reform.

Hello seaston, you mention Jerry will be in Mountain House tomorrow (Saturday Aug 15). Do you know what time? How did you hear about it?

When I go to jerrymcnerney.org, under his Events calendar - it says he'll be in San Martin, CA on Aug. 15 (north of Gilroy) from 10am-12 participating at the "South County Democratic Club Meeting".

I heard that only ten or twelve PHONE-y questions were taken at Jerry Nerney's PHONE-y town conference call. I'm certainly not getting the feeling that Jerry is listening to us.

I think scripted or even stacked in Jerry' favor is a great way to define the phone meeting in the sense that the phoney meeting was setup giving the appearance that everyone in Nancy's backyard couldn't be happier.

Man that was bad After every question there was no room for dialog and participants were clearly herded through without any thought. The moderator must have been a lib because she actually told speakers to hurry up.

Jerry had to have listened to her say that and said nothing to her. I'm afraid Jerry plans to shove this through no matter what to please somebody. He could have had the denency to interrupt the moderator and ask her not to do that. Maybe his time is too important?

One more thing. The way it was staged, yes I think staged, is that I had no time to call my friends and let them know about Jerry. I just wanted a chance to let them to know right here.

Hi all! I wrote the editor about the phone(y) town hall mtg. After signing up my phone # at his Stockton and Pleasanton offices, I received 2 recorded phone messages last night about 6 pm. Both had Cong. Mcn. saying, 'sorry we missed you, and you can't join our phone meeting. You may call my office another time to leave a questtion.' I wouldn't know if it was filled with staged questions. I didn't have access to the mtg, although I did all I could to be part of it. Unable to leave an email last noc, and no answer at his offices. Lines busy! Talk about citizens being left out! I now don't trust Congressman McNerney. This Saturday,he will be in Mountain House to have a public mtg about 'foreclosures', but I feel like he is giving his constituents no choice, but to let him know our feelings about healthcare there. Really I just want to have an open discussion about the challenges and possible solutions about healthcare in America. I'm a RN and studying for my masters in nursing. This was a PHONY mtg. and does not meet the needs of the citizens of Congressman McNerney's district.

* I hear there is a public protest set up for Sat, Aug 22nd at his Pleasanton office.

Shark,

You are spot on, in fact I wouldn't doubt it if he had his PHONE-Y conference call (er town hall meeting) from her house party in San Francisco.

I noticed the operator even chimed in support of Jerry McNerney, which I though was a wrong political move on Jerry's behalf. She said, during the phone-hall something like 'hurry up with your questions', we need to get at least ten [scripted] questions in tonight.

I am so disapointed with Jerry McNerney right now.

Folks, our only alternative besides sending a letter to Jerry's D.C. office (while he's on vacation at home in CA), is sending a comment on his website (copy & paste in your browser): http://podcast.jerrymcnerney.com/2009/06/healthcare-tell-me-what-you-need.html

Ask him your question there, and tell him what you think. For all we know, he may be attending Nancy Pelosi's house party and winery tour this weekend beginning at her Pacific Heights, S.F. home. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/08/06/politics/politico/main5218560.shtml

Sounded like they had a list of callers with prepared questions that were already queued up.

My question never got asked and the operator didn't even bother to ask my question.

Health Professional Groups and Insurance companies must be telling the Nancy Machinery to tell Congressmen to say they hope to pay for this with 'IT Jobs', but those positions are already being outsourced at an alarming rate while many companies are looking to hire only contract positions and not full time. Most of these jobs go overseas in untaxed salaries and US dollars. Medicare and SS must be near to pulling an AIG for this to have been pushed so high priority on Nancy's list. The number of retiring doctors who wont want to get low pay will also reduce jobs. COBRA is an additional cost. When they say their "intentions" are to not raise taxes, I had to laugh out loud.

Sorry!
