Foreclosure prevention workshop
Rep. Jerry McNerney and the Mountain House Community Services District will have a free foreclosure prevention workshop at 6 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Elementary School, 570 Escuela Drive, in Mountain House.
Representatives from several mortgage companies, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and banks will be on hand to answer questions. Participants should bring with them relevant financial documents, McNerney’s office said.

Pet adoptions
The Tracy Animal Shelter will set up shop at the West Valley Mall, 3200 Naglee Road, nearby Target from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to display and sell adoption-ready cats and dogs in a showcase called Bark Avenue & Meow Place.

Stroller Strides and LUNA Moms of Tracy will have a free presentation about how to make a home more eco-friendly. The event, which will feature speakers and demonstrations, will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 18. The location will be disclosed upon request.

Choir auditions
The Tracy Community Choir is looking for singers for its winter season and will host auditions from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts, 715 Central Ave.
Singers can be any age and should show up to the audition with a prepared song to sing a capella.
Winter season rehearsals begin Sept. 3 at the Grand Theatre. The final performance of the winter session will be a show called “Sharing the Season,” which will take place at the Grand on Dec. 5. The community choir is part of the Tracy Performing Arts Foundation.

Garage sale registration
Registration is now open for the city-sponsored Tracy garage sale, which will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 26 in neighborhoods west of Tracy Boulevard. Any home is welcome to register before Sept. 8 for the free event.
Registration entitles applicants for free advertising and a spot on a map, so the public can see which homes are participating.
