The pole crunched the front end of the pickup, which somehow ended up in the median. Glenn Moore/Tracy Press

Tracy city maintenance crews cut apart a street light that fell and blocked westbound lanes of West Schulte Road near Morris Phelps after a pickup truck crashed into the pole this afternoon.

The pick straddled the center divider and ripped the pole from the mount sending it crashing onto the roadway. Traffic was turned around until city crews could clear the roadway. The driver of the pickup was not injured.

Yes, the TP could have gotten more info for us.

sweetiez28, all you had to do the first time was say that the driver fell asleep at the wheel. There are a lot of commuters here in Tracy and I am suprised it hasn't happened more often. I'm just glad no one got hurt.

“Unless the truck was made out of aluminium foil, then he must be going pretty fast.”

That’s sorta my take on this. It’s roughly 150 feet ta th streetlight that was knocked down. An if ya look at th pictures the wheels of th truck on both sides barely touch th ground. That sorta tells me he had to be movin at quite a clip ta skid on the top of the median an hit the streetlight with enough force ta clip it off an cave in th front of the truck that bad.

“Could have tried to avoid something?” “Overcompensated his driving?”

We jus don’t know cus th press didn’t cover it all that well. They even got th location of th accident wrong.

“What was he thinking?” Careful, Amy, questions like that get people hot under the collar. Remember, thair are some like sweetiez28 thinks it’s just an accident that apparently couldn’t be avoided. After all, that’s why it “is called an accident. ever heard of that.”

“sure hope he wasn't text messaging...?”

So do I.

Well, I had better stop askin questions, it ticks people off as ya can see; that an my way of writin here in th comment sections.

Good day ta ya.

Well yer gettin a little better but ya gotta ways ta go. Just can't resist that little personal jab can ya?

Yep, kids should stay in school an larn how ta read an write. Remember, school is still out here in town but it's gonna start up soon.

As far as talkin correctly, I suggest ya take up the issues on ebonics an th pigeon English spoken here in these parts.

So are ya sayin th driver couldn't read th signs an that was the cause of th accident? Don't remember seein a "Don't drive 150’ on the center median" sign anywhair in th area but perhaps we need one.

Also, since you are intelligent enough that you feel you can denigrate others who have a different writing style than you, or what you might prefer, you just might want to consider the differences between ignorance and parody.

Now after you have considered those things get down off your high horse, come back and try to keep your comments civil. Is that written well enough for you?

Remember child, and I call you child because you are definitely a lot younger than I am, things are often not as they first appear to be.

You might also want to refresh yourself on the definition of the word bigot as it seems you have a little intolerance for others running around loose in your mind.

Now go have yerself a fine day.

Could have tried to avoid something?

Overcompensated his driving?

Practicing for the circus?

Next attempt, driving on high wire?

What was he thinking, sure hope he wasn't text messaging...?

Ohhh, I get it. Children are starting to keep up with the news. Kudos for that part. However, I do think that they should stay in school. It's good to know how to read and spell, oh and lets not forget how to talk correctly. Then perhaps, they will be able to read signs when they drive down the street and accidents like this won't happen so often.

"people are ignorant..this was what is called an accident. ever heard of that. The driver was not drunk....."

I simply asked th question so don't get yer shorts in a bunch over it.

So, ya know the driver wasn't drunk or drivin to fast? Got th facts ta back it up? If ya do then bring em forward cause the press sure didn't.

Also, ya might fair better in yer life if ya sweep yer own porch before ya start yammerin on about someone else's.

Yep, people are ignorant. Jus like those who criticize others about thair spellin and manarisms an start thair own sentences in lower case letters.

Ignorant? Please join th conversation when ya got somethin important ta say that adds to th conversation instead of makin yer personal attacks on people an how they comment. If ya can't understand th way I comment then I'd say th person thats ignorant is you.

I wunder what th driver wus thinkin that allowed him ta travel about 150 feet to th east of th intersection of Sycamore an West Schulte while straddlin th median before he took out th light pole, apparently at a high rate of speed?

Drunk? Drivin to fast? Seems ta be a lot of damage ta th truck fer travelin that far on a median. Seems ta be more to this story than is here in the press.

An by th way, Tracy Press, this accident ain't as near ta Morris Phelps as it is ta Sycamore. Fact is Morris Phelps is about 900 feet ta th east from thair.

Sorry if this doubles up. Havin problems with th computer this AM.
