Police arrested a 17-year-old on Friday on charges that under the tagging name “Gem,” he was responsible for more than 70 acts of vandalism.
His friend John Anglim, who was in juvenile hall on unrelated charges and has now turned 18, was accused this week of 140 incidents of illegal graffiti using the moniker “Zonk” as his graffiti signature, according to Tracy police.
Anglim allegedly used Sharpie pens and spray paint to leave his mark at parks and on buildings mostly in Tracy, but also in other places within San Joaquin County, according to Tracy police Sgt. Tony Sheneman.
Police arrested the 17-year-old boy on Friday, but this week conducted a probation search at Anglim’s house that led police to believe the suspect is part of the same tagging crew. Police say the two caused thousands of dollars worth of property damage.
