EDITOR,

The Tracy Press has realized the value of covering Tracy-area Muslims and their struggle to build a place of worship. Getting a unanimous approval from the county planning commission is certainly big news.

As you may know, the Muslim community in Tracy is a law-abiding community. We are a very diverse group of people from different parts of the world. We have children who attend schools here, and many have graduated from the local schools to go out to major universities and colleges to become somebody.

We all have decided to live here of our own free will and have decided to contribute to the cities of Tracy and Mountain House with our strong family values, with adherence to moral and ethical values, and with love and respect to our neighbors.

Many times we fail to express it, because we are basically very shy people, but we are always thinking about our neighbors. This we learn from the teachings of our prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

The issue about our neighbors not showing up to express their displeasure with the mosque project is a positive move, not what was highlighted in the news.

In my view, many neighbors who initially protested the building of a mosque did not show up to exhibit their protest but decided to stay home. Why? Because, I think, being absent was their way of agreeing to have a mosque to be built here.

Thank you, neighbors. We respect your places of worship and hope you respect ours.

Whats the difference between a Christian, Buddist or a Muslim place of worship?

Not much, exept what it looks like.

Dont forget most of us are here because our ansestors were were being treated very bad or wanted to have a place to start new lives.

So I guess this means were all about the same.
