Tracy gang detectives arrested a 17-year-old boy from Tracy Wednesday on suspicion of vandalism as part of an ongoing investigation into “tagging crews” in the city.

Information obtained over the past two months led detectives to serve a search warrant at the teen’s home in southeastern Tracy. Police were looking for evidence of tagging or graffiti, specifically evidence connected to the tagging crew “AOK,” according police.

Cops called the teenager a “prolific” tagger.

Police pulled several items from the home during their search, which led to the arrest. The teen may be responsible for at least 20 acts of vandalism within Tracy, which investigators said have caused thousands of dollars in damage.

When riding the ACE Commuter Train, I have noticed a great deal of spray paint tagging on the walls surrounding housing developments. I hope that these areas will be cleaned up because it makes nice neighborhoods look terrible. I'm sure it lowers the housing costs. Nobody wants to see that horrible tagging everywhere.

I did graff my mommy's house and she got mad, but now she's in jail for tricking so I can do what I want.

Well "paint the town"... do it on your own house. I never claimed taggers are gang bangers, but many are. I hope you don't know this AOK... cuz they really suck at what they do. I've peed patterns in the snow that look better than that. If it's so nice then why aren't they hired to do it instead of having to break the law on someone's land. Go ahead, do it to mommy's house, see how she likes it on her own land.

I would actually be for the art put on the train boxcars. They are damn ugly. Probably won't happen, but has anyone ever tried to ask Union Pacific, for example? Why not enjoy the art rolling down the tracks from city to city? Grafiti art, murals etc.

I heard somewhere that graffiti artists are hired to do murals on some buildings to keep the taggers away. What about that? There are a lot of suggestions here and on the other page. Maybe you guys can figure something out. I have also seen some great stuff with, yes, sidewalk chalk... So, "I b*tch about problems that I don't want to help fix"? Sounds like a lot of good suggestions to me. What suggestions or solutions do you have????? Hven't heard anything froma any of you yet. Though I still like my non-profit idea from the other page. Get crackin, go look at Higher Gliffs and Venice Art Walls.

PS just tagging AOK, does not an artist make :)

so all graffiti artists are non-gangbangers and all gangbangers never do graffiti art?

Got it. What do you think the odds in Vegas are on that being a real statistic?

I do believe that there is a crossover with some people or groups, but not all.

Wht about our suggestions? You don't seem to be one to try and find a solution...

Either PaintTheTown is a certifiable nut or has lousy reading comprehension!

You are not "listening" to any good suggestion offered, and reasons public frowns on defacement of any property. Would you be happy with graffiti or tagging, or whatever political correct term you defacers want to use, on your property?

Graff crews and gangs do not corellate, if your going to go online and b****about problems that you dont help to fix you should at least get proper information on what your adressing someone whowrites XIV on property in a wack handstyle to mark gang territories is not a graffiti artist, a graffiti artist gets up because the like to paint not to gang bang and thats what these "prolific taggers" are; graffiti artists. and to the other comment asking if i find the building pictured as appealing? yeah i do think the building is appealing some of the pieces on take alot of talent

Absolutley anonymous. How can they not see that?

No respect. Hey, lets go paint thier house. I suck at art, but tit for tat. :) Can I say "t*t" here???:)

I think it cost about at least $2000 to re-paint a house, right? Let's go have some fun and do our art...YEAH!!!

How do you feel now, paintthetown? Or would your mommy and daddy end up payng for it, so you don't really care??

Again, if you are a real artist, do something about it and work with the city to get a program rolling where you guys can do it legally and truly showcase your art without defacing our property.

Then just tag your own house, or even each other's houses.

Gang or not, defacing a property is lack of respect for one's property and you cannot argue with that? Let me know if one comes along and decided to get artistic with your car with AOK and stuff all over, defacing your car. Let me know if that makes you happy.

Those who have lack of respect for anyone and their property are bringing down the society!

Look at the building with all that markings, it is UGLY AND YOU CANNOT TELL US THAT IS FORM OF ART WORK! IT IS TRASHY! YOU TRASHED THE TOWN!

As I said before , for those of you who are in fact talented artists...what would you like to have here for you to do?? I am all for that. Get something up and running that is positive and showcases your art without defacing private property. I have seen some of it around and some is quite good. I would love to see the REAL artists be able to do their art legally. How can we get that done? Let is know.

For those who are punks and gang bangers with no artistic talent...those are the people most of us here are referring to.. Especially the ones like freegemsandzonk etc. They do not help your cause at all.

Many of us are not naive and do know that tagging, graffiti and some street art has been linked to gangs. So yes, SOME of it does in fact have correlation to gang activity.

ALso, my kids have managed to keep busy and have fun without breaking the law. Living in Tracy with supposedly nothing to do is no excuse.

First of all I find it funny how all you so called "Adults" try to come up with a meaning for AOK when no one really knows the actual meaning. You say the graffiti artists are childish and need to grow up yet your on the internet making homosexual references to the name or trying to decipher your own meaning such as this.. "Always Obnoxious Kid??" Funny!... not. I myself am STREET ARTIST and I find it funny that you are all so naive, just because one participates in graffiti doesnt mean he or she is "Punk" or "Gang Member" when in fact street art has no correlation to gang activity. And on top of it when your stuck growing up in a town as shitty as Tracy which lacks activities for teenagers (what does this town have for teens a skatepark in the worst part of town? and a mall?) its no wonder these kids resort to graffiti to keep them occupied...

concernNeighbor, I found that if I use the sign in at the top/right of the screen it works better. It won't ask your name, but it will put your name in there for you. Mine will say AAAnnie!

Are the parents going to pay for the cleanup? They should. The punk should get 80 hours of cleaning up every wall with a tag. Maybe a couple weekends in jail too.

freegemsandzonk, come on over. No, seriously. Come over and try to tag up my house. I'll even setup a little yahoo email account so I can give you my address in private. I welcome the idea of getting to meet you face-to-face. Come on, it'll be fun. We can have a couple beers and reminisce about old times together.
