Tracy Babe Ruth’s 11-and-under All-Stars finished in third place in the state after they were eliminated Wednesday from the Central California Cal Ripken State Tournament in Northwest Bakersfield.

The local team went 3-2 for the week, including a loss in the first round to Central Fresno and three wins in a row to come back up through the losers bracket. Those included a 9-3 win over Clovis on Monday, a 20-0 win over Five Cities on Tuesday and a 14-10 win over Central Fresno on Wednesday.

Wednesday’s game was a 0-2 loss to Bullard. Tracy had a chance to score in the third inning with the bases loaded and Shane Toland at-bat. He hit a shot down the third-base line, but in a call that the Tracy team disputed, the umpire ruled it a foul ball and called the runners back. Bullard was able to close the inning with no Tracy runs scored.

Bullard went on to face Northwest Bakersfield on Thursday in the championship game. Northwest Bakersfield won 14-4.

Tracy also has 9-and-under and 10-and-under teams playing in state championship tournaments this week. Tracy’s 9-and-under team went 2-1 in pool play in Central Fresno and will not move on to the championship bracket. The 10-and-under team continues in pool play through today in Visalia, and the top six of 12 teams will begin bracket play Sunday.
