Gladys Schmolck wears her crown and scepter as she celebrates her 106th birthday Tuesday at Emeritus at Heritage Place. Schmolck was born in San Francisco and survived the 1906 earthquake, moved to Alaska and survived the 1964 earthquake and then settled into California in time for the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. She has lived in Tracy for the past seven years. Friends and family gathered at Heritage to celebrate her birthday with a surprise party.
