A series of state tournaments began this week for players from Tracy Babe Ruth.

The 11-year-old all-stars, playing in Northwest Bakersfield in the Central California Cal Ripken State Tournament, lost their opener against Central Fresno, 1-7, on Saturday afternoon, but came back with a 9-3 win over Clovis on Sunday morning.

Jacob Serrato pitched four innings against Clovis, gave up one hit and struck out seven batters. With reliever Alex Camarillo on the mound, Clovis got two runs on an error.

Shane Toland, Santiago Rubio and Robert Garcia had two hits each, and Garcia drove in three of Tracy’s runs. Serrato, Kyle Hunt and John Barwig also had base hits.

In Saturday’s game against Central Fresno Tracy collected four hits in the 1-7 loss, including one each from Jacob Serrato, Kyle Hunt, Santiago Rubio and Elliott Bullard.

The 11-year-olds played again Tuesday against Five Cities. Results were not available as of press time.

Play also started Tuesday night for the 9-year-old Tracy Babe Ruth team in Fresno, and tournament play begins on Wednesday in Visalia for the Tracy Babe Ruth 10-year-old team.
