The defeat of the state budget initiatives demonstrated to our elected officials throughout the state that “enough is enough” — we’ve told them to “do your jobs.”
Our state government has become out of touch with and will not face reality. Elected officials resorted to doomsday and end-of-life-on-Earth threats before and after the election. That was a bunch of outright lies.
The legislators need to put their house in order. They have the money and are deliberately trying to scare us to turn over our entire paychecks to pay for their rich and famous lifestyles. Our state officials had better tell the numerous public employee unions to tell their memberships that they need to pay for their own medical and retirement costs. Layoffs are coming, like it or not.
Now if we had received stellar service from these state agencies and employees, we might have felt differently. However, when was the last time you called a state agency for help and did not wait 30 minutes on hold, only to get a rude and incompetent employee?
Judgment day has come to the state of California, and, of course, it stars our governor in the last series of his terminator role. Call it “The Free Ride is Over.”

Tracy Press
Title: The Poor City Employee
Dear Editor;
I am responding to the letter from Damian Gray about my recent letter. Before the taxpayers in Tracy take out our band instruments and play a Maher symphony for the down and out, poor city employees.
In 2007, I had to take a $ 5.00 per hour pay cut, how much of a pay cut did your husband recently have to take?
Your husband was paid over time, I never got paid overtime and many times worked over and some weekends to meet my work obligations. Then the taxpayer ends up footing the bill.
In 2008, our medical insurance co-pay from our employers was over $ 12,000.00. Your medical insurance was covered by us the taxpayer. What you pay only at most $ 1000.00 per year
I never got any vacation time and my wife got at most one week a year. What your husband get two to three weeks a year, which the taxpayer ends up paying for.
How many holidays a year did your Husband get paid a year. My wife and I got 6 and your husband got what 12 paid days off again paid my the taxpayer.
Our retirement is gone from the financial collapse. Your husband paid a small fraction and it has guaranteed to be kept safe. Then matched by us the tax paper.
How much did your Husband, try to save the taxpayer money, did he get any awards.
I saved my last employer over $ 450,000. I bet is little to none since a cost savings agenda in never on the mind of city workers to save money for the taxpayer.
Your husband only had to drive 6 blocks, and then he complained about the high price of gas. While my wife and I had to endure long computes in heavy traffic and difficult weather conditions of fog and rain to get to our jobs.
Why should the taxpayers of this town be held hostage, by a fraction of its population? You can bet your home, as a sure bet that if a parcel tax is passed the money will never be used for Police, and Fire services as asked for.
I invite you to my home, where both of us are out of work, where I cannot even offer you a cup of coffee. When each week it is a struggle to buy food, medicine. For too long people like your husband in Civil service rode the gravy train at taxpayer expense. Where were the City employees to help us, when Heinz plant closed, Pep Boys closed, the sugar plant closed. Now it is your husband and its union turn to endure the economic pain. You cannot get blood from rocks, thus the Tracy taxpayer the mighty rock is taped out. Welcome to reality and the life of the middle class.
