Betty Galli is a 1951 graduate of Tracy High School who has been a longtime active member of the Tracy High Alumni Club.

Now, as newly elected president of the club’s board of directors, she wants younger graduates to take a more active role in the organization.

“We have had a group of people carrying the load for the alumni club for a number of years, but we’re getting older, and it’s time for younger alumni to get involved,” she said.

Galli said she hopes to increase the size of the club’s board of directors by at least 10 members during the coming year, and even if they’re not on the board itself, new active club members are welcome.

The Tracy High Alumni Club sponsors a tri-tip and asparagus dinner each April to raise funds for scholarships awarded to graduating seniors of Tracy-area high schools.

“Our tri-tip and asparagus dinner has become a fixture in Tracy each spring, and we want to keep it going,” Galli said. “But we need more support from younger alumni to make it a success.”

Last year, the club donated a photo mural of the original high school building that is located in the foyer of the new classroom building that replaced the original structure.

Galli said anyone interested in becoming involved with the Tracy High Alumni Club, whether they attended Tracy High or not, should call her at 836-4046.

Galli will serve on the club’s board this year with Greg Jimenez, vice president; Jane Williford, recording secretary; Michelle Galli, corresponding secretary; Sherrill Anderson, treasurer; Louis Villalovoz, historian; and Harold Anderson, sergeant-at-arms.

In addition to being active with the Tracy High Alumni Club, Galli is an active member and past president of the West Side Pioneer Association and a past director of the Tracy Cemetery District.

She and her husband, retired farmer Louie “Gee Gee” Galli, have three sons, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
