EDITOR,

The June 17 edition of the Tracy Press reported the new fees the Tracy City Council imposed on citizens. The fee is to cover the medical calls made by people through no fault of their own who need to call a paramedic.

This only hurts the citizens who can least afford to pay these fees. This is nothing short of a legal shakedown to impose endless fees to cover the incompetence and wasteful lifestyle of the rich and famous at City Hall. We should start a recall campaign to immediately recall the four council members who voted for this outrage.

We have a huge reserve — we should use it for that purpose.

What next, will they impose fees to call 9-1-1, a fee to call the police in the middle of a robbery, a fee to enter and exit Tracy? Then a fee to drive and own a car. Then a fee to call the Tracy Fire Department while your house burns, and if you do not pay these fees, the police and fire will not come? Then they will divide the city into west and east Tracy and set up a wall of armor plating and a checkpoint. Then they will require you to wear a yellow Star of David as proof you purchased the permit.

This shows the lack of intelligence of our City Council and its inability to find solutions. The council members are totally out of touch and not facing reality with the terrible economic straits people are facing in Tracy. Like most politicians, their only solution is to create new taxes and fees.

We need to start a recall and remove these people and put people in office who have to work for a living and understand people are tapped out. In many households, one or two people are not working. Our 401ks are almost worthless. Our property values are 70 percent less of what they were in 2006.

This is not our fault, so why do politicians treat as if we created this mess?

Also do an Internet search on "Tracy Press and what?". Look at the similar commentary and see if you don't think he used to go by "what?".

Anybody read the raving lunatic commentary from "why?" who goes about here commenting about a "city council recall"?

Just Internet Search commentary on other Tracy Press letters and articles that were written around the same time. This person goes by the name "why?" and often mentions a "city council recall".

wink wink.

I'm in agreement with the writer. I think it's time we replace 4 of the 5 council persons with a recall.

It didn't just start with this new passed proposal of $300 for fire/paramedic services. You can go back to dealings between the city and Surland Co, the city and ATK, the city and Ellis. It's the outrageous conduct of city council that's got everyone in an uproar. The city makes plans with city residents footing the bill.

The city also approved building of two new fire stations at a cost of $8 million. The city's fire chief said that there were 6,200 calls for fire/paramedic services in 2008. If the calls remain constant, and you fixture in the $300, the city will have made up the money to build the stations in just a little over 4 years.

Our city council haven't made a few errors, their record has been numerous errors. Arrogance is what our city council displays. I have a "no confidence" opinion of our city council.

The only member of council that didn't go along with the $300 service fee is Abercrombie but that doesn't excuse him from past mistakes but it shows that he's willing to take a stand against the other 4.

Recall the Four!

Good points Ornley

I believe Al is frustrated with politicians in general and sees the local guys as making quite a few errors at the beginning of this downturn and during this downturn. They continue to make stupid errors. I think they are getting bad advice and can't think on their own.

Please Jerkkkkkk

Use your fingers to type istead of pasting.

Surely you have something intelligent to say. NOT

Al

Calm down bud before ya pop a vein. All that tension ain't good for yer health.

These folks blew it big time on this en but it ain't somethin that can't be fixed. Most certainly it ain't worth a recall.

Th last thing we need is to embroil ourselves in another three ta six months of political campainin as all sorts of folk come out of th woodwork with their empty campaign promises on how there gonna fix all the bad in our community and all effort an money is spent to either stay in office or get someone else in thair while nothin else of greater importance gets done.

We had enuf of those shenanigans fer two yers before the last Federal election and look at what came of it.

While these folk did sorta blow this issue, it don't mean that they haven't done any good either.

With yer last two comments in this postin, surely ya don't think that all of the problems ya list thair are the fault of any of em on council.

Calm down bud before ya pop a vein.

Yeah, they may have messed up on this en but it's nothin that can't be corrected an nothin ta get all that worked up about to call fer a recall.

These folk are not perfect by a long shot but they have done more good than bad.

Th last thing we need is to embroil ourselves in another stint of political posturin as other folk come out of th woodwork with grandious claims an promises that
