Tracy Little League Major National Astros are on pace to make the District 67 championship game after winning their matchup Wednesday against the Tracy American Mariners.

The Astros will face the Weston Ranch team at 9 a.m. today at Hafley School in Manteca. The winner will play in the championship game at 5:30 p.m. Monday against whichever team comes up through the losers bracket.

The Mountain House team was eliminated in the second round of play Tuesday.

The Astros’ 2-1 win over the Mariners was a pitchers duel, with the Astros’ Jerred Finney throwing 10 strikeouts as he pitched all six innings and gave up two base hits. The Mariners got those hits in the second inning when Matthew Case and Luis Seguera both singled. Case came around to score, but Seguera was thrown out at the plate.

The Astros’ Braeden Oki singled and came around on a couple of passed balls in the first. Finney batted him in, and Oki scored again in the fifth when he singled and Finney again batted him in for the Astros’ second run.

Juniors

Both of Tracy Little League’s Junior teams, the American Angels and National Mets, will have to come up through the losers bracket if they want a shot at the their division’s district championship game at 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Hafley School in Manteca.

The Mountain House Junior team was eliminated in the second round Thursday in an 8-7 loss to Lathrop.

The American Angels were bumped to the losers bracket Wednesday after a 5-4 loss to the Spreckels Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs scored first, but the Angels took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first when Kyle Murawski led off with a double, Nathan Van Katwyk singled to drive in a run, Darren Elbert tripled to knock in another and Marcus Ruiz batted in Elbert. Van Katwyk doubled again in the third and scored on an infield error.

The Bulldogs, in the top of the sixth, tied it 4-4 and put the game into extra innings. The Bulldogs scored one more in the ninth and held on for the win.

Minors

Both the Tracy Minor American and Tracy Minor National teams, the Yankees and the D’Backs, play their first District 67 games Friday afternoon, and could play again today if they win Friday’s games. Their championship game will be Thursday at Jefferson School.

Results were not available as of press time.

The Mountain House Minor team lost its first game, 14-6, to Salida on Thursday, and plays Patterson today for a chance to stay in the tournament.
