Four Tracy Little League Junior teams will play again today for a chance to move up to the District 67 Tournament of Champions, which also begins today at Paul Weston Park in Stockton.

In the local double-elimination brackets, the Mets moved up from the Tracy National losers bracket to take a win Wednesday over the D’Backs and force a second game today. District 67’s bracket gives the Tracy National team a bye in today’s first round, so the winner of the second Mets vs. D’Backs game will begin the tournament in the second round Sunday.

The Tracy American Angels also came up through the losers bracket, and in a rematch of their previous game June 6, beat the Athletics on Thursday to force a second game today. The winner of that game faces the Lathrop Little League champions tonight for a chance to play the Tracy National champs on Sunday.

In Wednesday’s Junior National game, the Mets took a 5-4 win over the D’Backs at Monticello School.

The D’Backs started strong in the first inning with a 4-2 lead, and held on until the fifth. The Mets tied it up 4-4 when Chris Bachetti got a base hit and scored on Riley Oki’s sacrifice bunt, and Spencer Black reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on an infield error. Trevor Askin scored the winning run after he walked and rounded the diamond and scored on stolen bases.

In Thursday’s Junior National game, the Angels pulled out a 6-4 win over the Athletics in the seventh inning.

The teams were tied 4-4 going into the seventh. The Angels got the go-ahead run when Darren Elbert doubled, and after the Athletics got the next two batters out, Kyle Murawski reached first on a grounder that brought Elbert in to score. Murawski came around to score after Jeremy Thompson walked and the Athletics missed a pickoff attempt at first. Thompson pitched in the bottom of the seventh, gave up one hit, and the Angels got the other three batters out to end the game.

Mountain House Little League also will send a team to the District 67 TOC in Stockton. They will face the Spreckles Little League champions today. The double-elimination tournament will continue through June 21.

Tracy Little League’s Major division teams will play their championship games today, and their District 67 tournament begins Sunday at Hafley School in Manteca, with the championship game June 22. Mountain House Little League also has a team in that tournament.

Tracy Little League will host the District 67 Minor league tournament, which begins Wednesday at Jefferson School with the first round of play and ends with the championship game June 25. Mountain House has a team in that tournament as well, and Tracy Little League will have its local Minor National and Minor American championship games Monday.
