Millennium girls make first team in soccer, softball

Millennium High sports teams had three girls selected to an all-league first team, including one from the Falcons’ first-year girls soccer squad.

Millennium also had two first-team softball players and two honorable mentions each for girls soccer and softball.

Brianna Murawski, goalie for the soccer team, was named to the all-league first team during the inaugural season for the Millennium girls soccer squad.

Murawski had 257 saves and averaged about 2.5 goals allowed per game.

The Falcons played in the Sacramento Metropolitan Athletic League in their first year and will play other schools in the Harvest Christian League once other HCL schools field soccer teams.

In softball, Melissa Vierra and Nicole Ochoa were named to the HCL first team in the Falcons’ second year in the league. They were the team’s leaders in runs batted in, with 17 for Vierra and 16 for Ochoa. Vierra also pitched for the Falcons, with an earned-run average of 1.96.

Receiving all-league honorable mentions were the soccer team’s Salina Elias, the team’s leading scorer with 11 goals for the season, and midfielder Elyssa Perales.

Softball honorable mentions went to Kelsea Eakin, who led her team in base hits with 19 for the season, and Jaylyn Gutierrez, who had 17 base hits.

All-league selections for the HCL baseball teams were not available as of Friday night.
