Marc Klaas of the Polly Klaas Foundation will be the featured speaker at the National Missing Children’s Day sponsored by Tracy Rotary on May 25 at Dr. Powers Park.

This is a day set aside in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan to call attention to the need to protect and educate children about abduction.

The event will be from 3 to 7 p.m., following what organizers hope will be a communitywide picnic. Other speakers will include Susan Levy from Wings of Protection, Tracy City Councilman Steve Abercrombie and City Manager Leon Churchill.

Free identification kits and digital fingerprinting will be provided along with presentations by Tracy’s Community Emergency Response Team and the police K-9 Unit.

Tracy Rotary will collect used cell phones to be recycled, with the proceeds going to children’s services in Tracy.

The event is also sponsored by Sutter Tracy Community Hospital, Tracy Masonic Lodge and LMG Attractions.

Parking will be available at Monte Vista School and St. Paul Lutheran Church.
