EDITOR,

I am pleased to see more Tracy residents expressing their displeasure with the noise produced by the aerobatic practice area near the Tracy airport. The continuous droning of these aircraft for hours on end is quite annoying. If this level of noise was produced by anything or anybody else in the neighborhood, they would probably be cited for disturbing the peace.

Shirley Morris (Your Voice, “Planes are too close to homes,” May 2) has a valid point about the safety concerns. Even though the pilots may know what they are doing, equipment can fail beyond their control. Pilot error is also a factor.

Mike McCue (Your Voice, “Irritated by inconsiderate pilots,” April 29) brings up a good point about the motorcycle park being located away from residential areas. When the aerobatic box was initially approved by the Federal Aviation Administration, Tracy was still small but growing. Now that it has increased its population and expanded residential zoning and construction to the south, it is time for the box to be eliminated.

The city of Tracy should step in and make it happen. After all, the residents are paying taxes and as property owners, we have a right to peace and quiet — especially on weekends, when most of us are at home.

your home was cheaper because of the airport. Your house can also be demolished by a small asteroid crashing to earth- does that mean we should put a protective shield around the earth? No. You can't prepare for the unexpected, and you can't fault others for not expecting it as well. The airport was there before you were, and you got a better deal because of it. Are you willing to pay the difference between what you paid, and what that home would have cost on the other side of town? If not, pipe down, and enjoy the discounted home you live in.

Vetdude88, I thought it was the other way around, heard Tracy used to be a Brothel town since it is a Rail dominated town? I imagine it was brawdy and shady at the time....?

When I lived in Tracy, for two years, I loved the open space charm it has as compared to high rise buildings all around you where you have to crane your neck to get a glimpse of the beautiful blue sky with white clouds, in Tracy, you don't have to crane your neck!

Two things concerns me about Tracy and I am sure the Police Chief is brushing herself up on California laws and what is required to keep herself abreast of latest changes in laws ... that she will crack down on vandalism.... they have been testing her meddle to see how far they could go since it seemed to get worse this past year?

Secondly, is the attitude people bring with them to their new location, my belief is we adapt to the new surrounding not the surrounding adapt to our attitudes!!!

Tracy is lovely, new town, (to me it is!) and the spacious green and golden space is alot to be thankful as compared to condensed number of people enjoying small piece of land, even started more rooftop gardenings!

Leave your attitude at your former location you would do better in your new surrounding and learn to enjoy what history your new home offers?

Enjoy Tracy, help it to grow into better Tracy by taking action.

It saddens me to see Tracy loosing some it's character.

As more and more people from the Bay area find Tracy more attractive to live. It now seems that more and more people prefer to complain until they get change, rather than accept the change acquired by their new community of choice.

IMO, Tracy used to be the safe haven just outside the Bay area, but now it seems as if things may be changing. I'd like to see the city keep things as they are. It may cause some to become frustrated and move back! but for others, they will continue to be drawn.

So if Tracy officials knew about the acrobatic box near the airport, and still OK'd homes to be built. who's fault is is now? And I'm still sorry your realitor kept quiet about the airport and all the noise in your back yard. Did you go to look at the house you live in or just check it out online?

I just got back from a bicycle ride and the planes are flying (acrobatics) in an area known as Carbona, south of any major, Tracy developments, which is to say south of Linne Road (south of Tracy, CA in San Joaquin County, which used to be a town / area, called Carbona).

the airobatics planes are out there putting on a GRAND show if anyone want to watch and they had hot air balloons out there this morning too. Great way to start the Memorial Day Weekend, in my opinion.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

I meant the airport being there 80 years ago, not the aerobatic box, when was it approved and installed?

How far is this "aerobatic box" from the airport?

"When the aerobatic box was initially approved by the Federal Aviation Administration"

Ok, in the other article it stated the airport was there 80 years ago????

.... and when was the box approved by the Federal Aviation Administration?

80 years ago, I'd say they were there first.

If you wanted peace and quiet, why did you move to a "growing" town? Bigger question, why next to the airport, knowing they do not fly silent planes there????

I've always enjoyed living in Tracy, CA - watching the planes in the evenings and hot air balloons in the mornings. I've also bicycled on the California Aquaduct and noticed that most of the planes, as a courtesy, seem to avoid residential areas. While bicycling from Corral Hollow Rd (south) on the Aqueduct you can see the majority of the planes going South (or even West) of Tracy.

There are numerous homes for sale to the north of you that are nowhere near the airport. Quiet too.

BTW....why did you choose to live close to the airport?
