EDITOR,

Our politicians in Sacramento once again put off a tough decision and now want us to vote next week in regards to the state budget.

I estimated all the increases, which amount to $1,800 per family a year, which we would have to pay in additional taxes and fees if these propositions pass.

My family cannot afford to pay more money in taxes, and I will vote no to all the measures. Our state, county and local city governments have demonstrated they have little regard for the difficult economic hardships taxpayers are dealing with.

Frankly, they do not care, because they have become arrogant and out of touch with reality.

Politicians still think the California taxpayer is a bottomless money well to constantly raid. It has become very clear that our political leadership cannot be trusted with money.

That is why I am voting no. Let California, along with its counties and cities, drive off a cliff. Then they will have to tear up and rewrite all the public employee contracts.

We did not cause this — we did not give out these overly generous civil service employee benefits, which are better than the private sector in terms of medical plans, pensions and holidays.

We are not a bunch of rocks that you can squeeze blood out of. Send our politicians a clear message:

Enough is enough.

Have to agree wholeheartedly, except perhaps for 1F...which I think simply doesn't go far enough. Perhaps if it forced legislators' salaries to be rolled back to 1960 levels, with the surplus going toward establishing a 'emergency fund', I'd like it better. Nope...there is nothing in this special election to garner enough hope to justify a yes vote, simply another attempt to squeeze blood from rocks. Rocks that each day are losing their own means of support.
