A woman called at 11:32 a.m. Thursday from the 200 block of West Carlton Way to report that her husband came home while she was sleeping and started an argument with her.

She claimed he hit her, but police said it was only a verbal argument. Police said there was no crime, and that it was a civil matter. Both had lost their jobs, their rent was overdue and “both have fallen into doing illegal drugs.” They’re separated, and agreed their three kids would stay with the wife. The man took most of his belongings, and was told by the property manager that he’d be arrested for trespassing if he returned.

Tracy police responded to 206 calls for service Thursday. The following is a sample of those reports:

12:13 a.m.: A woman calling from the Tracy Municipal Airport, 5749 S. Tracy Blvd., reported an “older” gray-haired friend she’s known for three weeks sent her a text saying he was going to “end it all” and to “keep him in her memory.” She thought the man uses drugs, and she told police he owns several guns, sometimes carrying one in his belt. She said he lives in a trailer, and when police called him, he said he was at a crop-dusting airport north of Tracy, that he never sent a text message and that he was fine.

1:59 a.m.: A bouncer at the Great Plate called from Charles Street and Central Avenue to report an off-duty San Francisco police officer threatened him after he tried to break up a family argument at the restaurant.

3:43 a.m.: A caller reported the theft of a Mercury Voyager from the 1700 block of Countrywood Lane.

8:22 a.m.: A caller reported a stolen 1991 white Ford Mustang from the 400 block of Renown Drive.

11:19 a.m.: A caller reported a dog wearing a sweater was running loose at Cedrus Drive and Central Avenue.

Noon: A caller from the Tracy Branch Library, 20 E. Eaton Ave., asked police to remove a 30-year-old man who was making “derogatory comments” to patrons. The guy was gone when police arrived 36 minutes later.

2:06 p.m.: A mother reported her son was in her home on the firth block of West Seventh Street threatening to kill himself because he was distraught over his girlfriend leaving with their child. She said he’d threatened suicide before, “ but not to this extreme.” Police talked to the man, and said the mother and son had gotten into a heated argument.

2:10 p.m.: Police took a suspected shoplifter into custody at Save Mart, 875 S. Tracy Blvd. The person had prior convictions but had served no time behind bars.

3:08 p.m.: A caller reported two guys in a car swerving in and out of lanes at Schulte Road and Tracy Boulevard. They were gone when police arrived five minutes later.

3:29 p.m.: A caller from the PG&E office at 55 E. 10th St. reported a man who smelled of alcohol left the office and drove away. The man was gone when police arrived six minutes later.

3:57 p.m.: A caller from the Tracy family Practice, 730 N. Central Ave., reported two boys left a soda bottle in front of their business and “exploded it with black stuff and foam coming out.” The owner of the Great Plate told police it sounded like an M80.

4:43 p.m.: A caller from the 2100 block of Florentine Way reported his car was burglarized.

5:24 p.m.: A caller from the Tracy Municipal Airport, 5749 S. Tracy Blvd., reported two boys and a girl spray painting graffiti under a bridge. The kids took off in a white Toyota, and police couldn’t tell which graffiti was recent.

6 p.m.: A guy caught shoplifting at Radio Shack, 3200 Naglee Road, refused to give his name to police, and the store ultimately declined to prosecute.

6:31 p.m.: A man said someone stole a duffel bag that contained medication from his car on the 600 block of Palm Circle.

8:57 p.m.: A woman on the 200 block of Kelly Mist Drive asked for an officer’s help to pick up her daughter, who the woman said “attacked her.” The mother told police she went to her daughter’s friend’s house to check on her daughter only to discover she was drunk. The mother said the daughter was too drunk to talk to her, and her parents decided to get professional help for her daughter’s drinking problem.

9:28 p.m.: Police went to the Tracy Park Apartments, 2800 N. Tracy Blvd., after a woman with an 8-year-old child said her boyfriend just hit her. She said the guy hit himself in the eye to make it look like she did it, which her son witnessed. Police arrested the 41-year-old man on suspicion of spousal abuse.

10:01 p.m.: A caller from the Sierra House group home, 245 W. Whittier Ave., reported an assault. The caller also said one guy was “snapping” the bra strap of a woman who works there, making her uncomfortable, and following her around “licking his lips.” Police arrested and cited him.

10:34 p.m.: A caller reported hearing gunshots at South and West streets, and seeing people running through a nearby field. Police brought out a dog, which sniffed the field and took handlers north on B Street, but police could find no evidence of gunfire.

This column includes a sample of items as reported in the Tracy Police Department dispatcher’s daily log. Additional information is based on reports from officers and other law enforcement agencies. To report information anonymously about a crime: Crime Stoppers, 831-6847.

Does it really matter if the kids took off and the police couldn't tell which graffiti was recent? If they had caught the kids they would have only given a warning.

"6 p.m.: A guy caught shoplifting at Radio Shack, 3200 Naglee Road, refused to give his name to police, and the store ultimately declined to prosecute."

If Radio Shack were to have sought prosecution against this fellow it wouldn't matter whether he gave up his name or anything else. Just take his butt to French Camp and let him sit while waiting for id from his fingerprints. Chances are, he could have been cite released from Radio Shack for this offense.

"11:19 a.m.: A caller reported a dog wearing a sweater was running loose at Cedrus Drive and Central Avenue."

After thanking the kind people from the McHenry House for donating the sweater, the determined pooch met up with (yesterday's)

limping pit bull (wandering around Central School) than fashioned the sweater into a sling and by approx. 6:30 p.m. had managed to "steal a duffel bag that contained medication on the 600 block of Palm Circle."

surprised that the police dropped the matter at radio shack. not surprised that they dropped it- they probably never have theft issues; they don't have anything worth stealing.

Both had lost their jobs, their rent was overdue and “both have fallen into doing illegal drugs.” They’re separated, and agreed their three kids would stay with the wife. THEY CANT AFFORD TO PAY THE RENT BUT THEY CAN AFFORD ILLEGAL DRUGS... THEY NEED TO PUT THAT MONEY TOWARD THE RENT .DUH!!! AND IF THEY ARE BOTH DOING ILLEGAL DRUGS WHY DO EITHER IOF THEM HAVE THE KIDS? THEY SHOULD BE TAKEN AWAY !!!!

Just a wild guess, maybe the recent paint was the wet paint?

Isn't that a crime? If the cops want your name, don't you have to state it? Shoplifters may do that now since he was not prosecuted.
