Fred William Welch, 71, a former Tracy resident, died Aug. 8 at his home in Courtland. Services will be private.

Born March 10, 1943, Mr. Welch attended Jefferson School and graduated from Tracy High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from May 1954 until his honorable discharge in November 1967. Later, he farmed in Tracy and Modesto and managed a cherry orchard in the Delta for Steamboat Farms.

Survivors include three sisters, Sharon Gerhart, and her husband, Larry, and Shirley Carter, all of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Linda Crites, and her husband, Dennis, of Modesto.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Ida and Roy Welch; stepmother, Evelyn Welch; and a brother, Terry Welch.

Arrangements will be handled by Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave.
