Karla and Marty Woodard, lifelong Tracy residents, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Friday.

Growing up as next-door neighbors on West Emerson Avenue, the couple became high school sweethearts. Marty was part of the 1962 Tracy High School graduating class, and Karla graduated two years later in 1964.

They were wed 50 years ago, on Aug. 8, 1964, at the First Covenant Church in Tracy.

Karla has now retired from Banta School and Marty from Owens-Illinois. They celebrated their anniversary with family and friends at the home of their daughter, Kim Davis, and her husband, Derrick, in Tracy. Their son, David Woodard, and his wife, Lori, live in San Ramon. The Woodards also have four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

The couple enjoy traveling together and attending any activity involving their grandchildren.

Congratulations to the great Woodard couple, Marty and Karla on the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary from Dick Martin, ex Tracy, now of Greenville, SC. I've known you both since the early 1980's when we were affiliated with the original Red, White, and Blue Tracy Raiders. God Bless you on this momentous occasion.
