Tracy High sprinter Nate Jones, who just finished his junior year, concluded his track and field season Friday with a 12th-place finish in the 100-meter dash at the California Interscholastic Federation state championship meet.

Jones finished fifth in the last of three heats in Friday’s trials at Buchanan High in Clovis. His time, 10.75 seconds, was seven-hundredths of a second short of the ninth-place qualifier (10.68) for Saturday’s championship heat. Curtis Godin, a senior from Mater Dei High in Santa Ana, won the event Saturday with a time of 10.31 seconds.

Also competing at the CIF meet was Blair Hurlock, a Tracy resident and recent graduate of De La Salle High in Concord. He placed fourth in the 3,200 meters (8 minutes, 58.85 seconds), and the De La Salle boys were the third-place overall team.

Deion Lightfoot, who lives in Tracy and just finished his freshman year at St. Mary’s High in Stockton, placed 25th in the boys 110 hurdles (14.97).
