Bernard proposed to Josina on June 9, 2012 — more than nine years after they began dating — as they walked across the Golden Gate Bridge with close friends and family members. At the halfway point, as Josina turned to walk back, more friends and relatives joined them and Bernard kneeled and made a speech, offering her a ring.

She is granddaughter to Sandra and Andre De Vos and Sonia and Ben Sambrano, all of Tracy.
Josina attended Monte Vista Middle School and graduated from West High School in 2006, and she studied arts and communications at Ohlone and Mission colleges. After the wedding, she plans to pursue a business degree and a career in event planning.
The groom-to-be, son of Bernadette and Nestor Fantone of Tracy, is brother to Nesson Fantone of Coalinga. His grandparents are Segundina Fantone of Santa Clara and Monica Daco of Hayward.
Bernard attended Williams Middle School, graduating from West High School in 2005, and earned a degree in business administration from California State University, East Bay, in 2013. He also holds associate degrees in accounting and general studies from Mission College. He is working for Honda Financial Services through Accountemps.
Josina’s sister Kristina will be her maid of honor, and her matron of honor is Sharon Daco of Fremont. She will also be attended by Wil Jervis Lawas of Pacifica, Chantal Cabildo of Union City and Michelle Ricafort of Los Angeles. Bernard’s best men will be Christopher Hudson of Tracy and Paulie Daco of Fremont, and groomsmen are Christian Daco of Fremont, his brother Nesson and Josina’s brother Richard. Junior bridesmaids are Josina’s sister Maili and Cheyanne Estrella of Dublin, and junior groomsmen are Jaidan Sullivan and Adam Cabinian, both of Tracy.
The ceremony, at a gallery in San Francisco during the San Francisco Pride Celebration, will be officiated by Jerrie Peace Evans, a cousin of the groom. The bride designed all the details of the wedding.
