Tracy High senior pitcher Tayler Misfeldt, who led the league in wins and strikeouts on the Bulldogs’ way to a second consecutive league title, is the 2014 most valuable player in the San Joaquin Athletic Association.

Misfeldt, who will pitch for NCAA Division I U.C. Riverside next year, struck out 205 batters over 139 1/3 innings and held a 19-5 record and a 1.36 earned run average.

Her wins included a 16-strikeout, 12-0 shutout of Lincoln High on March 25. She also struck out nine batters in four innings as she and freshman Mikayla Coelho combined for a 16-0 perfect game against Franklin on April 3.

Misfeldt is a three-year varsity player with the Bulldogs. As a junior, she was named the SJAA’s most valuable pitcher, and she was an all-SJAA honorable mention in her sophomore year.

Also topping the all-SJAA list was senior outfielder Jazmin Clarke, the SJAA’s most valuable defensive player. Clarke will play for NCAA Division I Utah State University next year.

The Valley Oak League’s award for offensive player of the year went to Kimball High senior Llesenia Torres, who batted .561 for the year and .674 over 14 VOL games. She will play for CSU Long Beach next year in NCAA Division I.
