Tracy High senior Daesha Brown, a midfielder on the Tracy High girls soccer team, was this year’s choice for the San Joaquin Athletic Association’s most valuable player.

Tracy coach Nate Perry said that Brown, an outside midfielder for the Bulldogs, turned out to be a strong leader as team captain this year as the Bulldogs claimed a fifth consecutive SJAA title.

Perry said she scored 16 goals and had 10 assists.

“I’m sure she started a lot more (goals) than that with her long throw-ins and crosses,” Perry said.

Brown was an all-SJAA player as a junior in 2013. In her freshman and sophomore years, the junior varsity team went undefeated as part of the JV team’s 70-game, multiseason SJAA winning streak. Perry noted that Brown and other seniors who played on the JV team for two years can claim a 36-2-2 record in league play.

Tracy junior Jenna Wesely also gained top honors this year as the SJAA’s most valuable midfielder.
