Student and their families took a virtual trip around the world as they walked around the playground during South/West Park School’s annual Family Fun and Fitness Day on May 1.

The annual event, which has taken place for more than 20 years, had an international theme. Each class was assigned a country and made posters for a contest, and class members could dress in costumes representing their country while walking laps.

Third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students taking part in the Road Runner Race counted their laps as their classes tried to walk enough miles to stretch across countries.

Parents and other family members were invited to walk along with the students, who had collected pledges for the laps they walked as a school fundraiser.
