Tracy junior Haley Nunes sparked the Bulldogs’ 11-1 win at home against Lodi High with her two-run homer in the first inning Wednesday at the Tracy Sports Complex.
Nunes batted in four runs in the game and had three of Tracy’s 14 hits. Senior Jazmin Clarke had three hits and senior Sabrina George tripled and singled.
Senior pitcher Tayler Misfeldt got the win after she allowed just two hits and one run over five innings.
Tracy (20-4, 12-1 San Joaquin Athletic Association) is already assured of a playoff spot, and the win over Lodi (13-11, 6-7 SJAA) brings the team one game closer to a showdown at Bear Creek High on Tuesday in the game that will decide the SJAA champion.
Kimball 10, Manteca 4
The Kimball High Jaguars collected 18 base hits and overcame Manteca High’s 4-3 third-inning lead to win Wednesday in Manteca.
Key hits included sophomore Samantha Sarmiento’s two-run homer with two out in the top of the seventh. Leading hitters for the Jaguars (12-8, 7-5 Valley Oak League) included senior Llesenia Torres, who went 4-for-4. Senior Danielle Lallos had three hits, including a triple, and senior Amanda Riley also had three hits.
Manteca (11-8, 6-6 VOL) also had three errors
Sarmiento pitched all seven innings for the win, giving up 10 hits and striking out seven batters.
Millennium 29, Stone Ridge Christian 4
Everybody on the Falcon roster got a base hit in Millennium’s lopsided win Tuesday at Stone Ridge Christian in Merced. Sophomore Elise Deras homered and hit two singles, senior Gabrielle Ramirez also had three of Millennium’s 20 base hits, and junior Sophia Perez batted in six runs.
Sophomore starting pitcher Haylee Faultner got the win after she allowed one hit and two runs over three innings, and sophomore Amy Wise finished the game.
West 11, Edison 1
West High affirmed its second-place standing in the Tri-City Athletic League with win at home against Edison High (3-18, 3-6 TCAL) on Wednesday. Senior starting pitcher Kayla Lopez gave up five hits over five innings for the win.
West (12-9-1, 7-2 TCAL) had 10 base hits, including two doubles and a single by sophomore Taylor Burns and a double and a single by senior Haley Hollis.
Tracy 2, Lincoln 0
Tracy junior Alee Balanon hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning, the only runs scored in the Bulldogs’ shutout win Tuesday at Lincoln High in Stockton. Freshman pitcher Mikayla Coelho struck out 10 batters over seven innings and gave up five hits for the win.
St. Mary’s 14, West 13
West junior Samantha Asbra bashed two home runs and junior Shelby Weeks, who went 4-for-5, also homered Monday as the Wolf Pack collected 16 hits at Arnaiz Fields in Stockton.
West scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh, but that wasn’t enough to overcome the Rams’ 14-9 sixth-inning lead. Sophomore pitcher Janae Sims gave up 13 hits, including a first-inning grand slam, and five walks for the loss.
The win affirmed St. Mary’s (16-6, 8-1 TCAL) as the league champion.
