Last week’s Remember When “mystery photo” showed David Taylor, a standout of the 1975 Tracy High track team, rounding the curve on his way to a new school record in the 440-yard dash. Taylor’s record of 49.9 seconds was established at a meet in Ceres. He also established a personal best of 22.5 seconds in the 220-yard dash. Taylor, a senior known as “Magic” to friends, was co-winner, along with junior high -jumper Tom Conrad, of the 1975 George Parker Trophy as outstanding member of the Tracy High track team. A number of former teammates and classmates identified Taylor. First to respond was former teammate David Carmona, followed by former Press sports editor Larry Minner, Steve Serpa, Frank Grande Jr., Dan Fansler, Cassandra Nicolaysen, Steve Dooley, John Silva and Ron Silva.
