Gymnasts take four first

The team from Classic Gymnastics took first-place finishes in 4-of-5 categories this past weekend at the Beat the Heat ’09 competition at Performance Athletics Gymnastics in San Luis Obispo.

Classic had the five top gymnasts in the Level 4 Open competition, which includes 8- to 10-year-olds. Kaylin Dennington was first with an all-around score of 36.000; Erika Pulliam, second, 35.600; Veronica Knowlden, third, 35.400; Ellie Higgins, fourth, 35.300, Kimmy Dennington, fifth, 35.100; and Amanda Scudder, seventh, 33.750.

In the Level 5 competition, Katelyn Garay took first place in the 9-and-under category with an all-around score of 33.200; Celia Reddoch was first in the 10-year-old competition with a score of 32.800, and Aly Gilkerson was second, 32.700.

Lauren Giles was first in the 11-and-older division with a score of 34.750. Shaylyn Garay was third in the Level 7 Open competition with a score of 34.300.
