Din, a member of the local Elks organization for the past three years, earlier served three terms as exalted ruler of the Stockton Elks Lodge, saying, “I know what is expected of me.”
He and other Elks officers were installed recently during a dinner at the Elks Lodge on 11th Street east of town.
Din was raised in Gridley, Butte County. After spending eight years in the U.S. Navy, he worked 15 years for Pacific Gas & Electric Co.
An Elk since 1998, he currently lives in Stockton with his wife, Lyndell Ivey-Din.
In heading up the 340-member Tracy Elks Lodge, Din said he wants to plan new events for the benefit of the lodge and community.
With a hobby of teaching youngsters how to build and fly remote-control model airplanes, his motto for the year is “Flying High in Elkdom.”
Din, who succeeds Gerry Saunders as exalted ruler, heads a corps of officers that includes Steve Thatcher, leading knight; John Nunes, loyal knight; Candy Soares, lecturing knight; Jim Schopf, secretary; and Kathleen Nelson, treasurer.
