Four teams set to begin basketball playoffs

Four local basketball teams are headed into the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs starting today, when the Kimball High girls host the Lodi High Flames in the first round of the Division I bracket.

Kimball (24-3, 13-1 Valley Oak League) goes into playoffs as the No. 14 seed. Lodi (16-12, 6-5 San Joaquin Athletic Association) is the No. 19 seed. The winner will travel to Napa on Tuesday to face the No. 3-seed Napa High Indians (25-1, 10-0 Monticello Empire League).

The West High boys (19-8, 8-2 Tri-City Athletic League) travel to Elk Grove on Wednesday to face No. 4-seed Monterey Trail (20-7, 6-4 Delta Valley Conference) in the first round of the SJS Division I bracket.

Both of the Delta Charter High teams will play on the road Wednesday in the Division IV playoffs. The No. 16-seed Delta Charter boys (20-6, 11-3 Mountain Valley League) will travel to face Encina High (24-3, 12-0 Sierra Delta League), the No. 1 seed, in Sacramento. The Delta Charter girls (16-10, 12-2 MVL) are seeded 15th and will travel to Sacramento to face No. 2 West Campus High (15-6, 7-1 Golden Empire League).
