January, a petite 3-year-old, was rescued from an attempted attack by a large cat after being left behind or lost by her previous family, according to rescue volunteers. She is friendly and purrs to be held. Because of an old spinal injury, she is sometimes wobbly and can’t jump as well as most cats, but she gets around fine. Animal Rescue of Tracy is a nonprofit, all-volunteer rescue group that has pet adoption fairs for dogs and cats from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays in the Macy’s wing of the West Valley Mall, 3200 Naglee Road. Members will also make arrangements to show animals in rescue during the week. For information: 642-4324 or www.animalrescuetracy.org.

Bowzer, a 2-month-old American bulldog mix, is at the Tracy Animal Shelter and needs a home. The shelter staff is seeking donations of canned food for dogs and cats, dog toys, flea shampoo and puppy and kitten formula. The shelter, 370 Arbor Road, is open from noon to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For information: 831-6364 or “City of Tracy Animal Services” on Facebook.
