Girls basketball: Falcons open with win, loss

The Millennium High girls basketball team started off the three-day Escalon High Tournament with a 50-34 loss to Waterford High on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Sophomore Ashley Hart was the top shooter for the Falcons (1-1) with 15 points, including three 3-point shots, and sophomore Anekha Birdi added 11 points.

Hart was also the Falcons’ leading scorer in Millennium’s 44-23 win at Delta Charter High on Saturday, Nov. 30 — the first game of the season for both teams.

Hart scored 12 points, including two 3-pointers, and senior Madison Carroll came through for eight points.

Leading contributors to Delta Charter’s offense were senior Asia Harris with 11 points and junior Emma Richardson with 10 points.

The Dragons (0-2) then lost to Livermore Valley Prep 52-9 on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at home.

Kimball 48, Tokay 29

The Jaguars (1-0) took a 24-15 halftime lead and continued to surge ahead in the fourth quarter for a victory at home Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Junior guard Allison Schmidt scored a team-high 11 points. Senior Noni Kuumba followed with nine, and junior Sarah Nunes scored seven.
