A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Dec. 9, for Charles “Charlie” Burns, 59, of Tracy, who died Monday, Dec. 2, at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson.

Mr. Burns, a California native, was born April 30, 1954, and had lived in Tracy 23 years. He participated in Special Olympics and the Tracy Adult Resource Program and was a parishioner of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include his mother, Emmaline Burns of Tracy; two sisters, Sandra Hughes, and her husband, Terry, and Suzanne Barnes, and her husband, David, all of Tracy; and several nieces and nephews.

His father, John Joseph Burns, preceded him in death.

Monday’s Mass will begin at 2 p.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave. A rosary will be recited at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave.

Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 26320 Mission Blvd., in Hayward.
