Ecidro Aldana, 8, of Tracy added another trophy to his collection of sprint car awards after he finished at the front of the pack in the Junior Sprints division of Delta Speedway’s Turkey Bowl XIII on Friday, Oct. 25, and Saturday, Oct. 26, in Stockton.

Ecidro, a third-grader at Central School, placed first and second in two qualifying heats on Friday to start in the outside front position in Saturday’s 30-lap main event on the 1/5 mile dirt oval. He held second-place for most of the race and overtook the leader in the 26th lap.

The win follows his second-place finish in the points standings for Delta Speedway’s 2013 Junior Sprint series, which concluded on Oct. 6.



Xplosion wins Fremont soccer tournament

Tracy Futbol Club’s under-11 girls Xplosion claimed first-place at the Kick or Treat tournament in Fremont Saturday, Oct. 26, and Sunday, Oct. 27. Xplosion opened with a 1-1 tie against Mustang Samba and a 2-1 win over PSC Highlanders on Saturday, and had two shut outs, 7-0 over ASBC and 6-0 against Palo Alto Lightning on Sunday in the championship game.

Goalkeeper Ashley Pugh and defenders Alexa Burton and Allison Rickman kept opponents from scoring in the semifinal and final. Hana Shaghasi scored five goals for the weekend, Madison Rodriguez and Kayla Vieira scored two each and Danya Gonzalez and Taylor Perry provided assists.



WildKatz claim another tourney title

The West Coast Soccer Club WildKatz under-9 girls soccer team won its third tournament title of the season at the Kick or Treat tournament in Concord on Saturday, Oct. 26, and Sunday, Oct. 27. The WildKatz played the Gryphons to a 1-1 tie in the final, with Mary Jane Anzo of Tracy scoring for the WildKatz. Ella Revino, Teagan Conklin and Allie Santellano all scored in the penalty kick shootout to secure the win for the WildKatz.
