The Jaguars dropped another Valley Oak League contest on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Kimball High, taking a 3-1 loss to the Manteca Buffaloes.

Kimball (2-9, 0-3 VOL) was held scoreless in the first half while the Buffaloes (10-1-1, 2-1 VOL) scored to make it a 1-0 game at the half. Manteca scored again in the second half before the Jaguars scored.

Kimball senior Brett Lassiter fired a free kick at the goal. Manteca’s goalie blocked the shot, but it bounced back out and Kimball sophomore Noah Aini headed the ball in. Manteca scored once more in the second half.

Delta Charter drops 2013 soccer team

Delta Charter High School’s soccer team cancelled its 2013 season this week after the school was unable to field the minimum number of players.

It would have been the fourth year for soccer at Delta Charter, which started with seven players and a new coach, Scott Rafferty, when practices started in late August.

Delta Charter athletic director Julia Ulrich reported on Saturday, Sept. 21, that the team completed its roster with 11 players, but only seven were eligible to play. Two were cut after their grades fell below a C average, and two more were ineligible under California Interscholastic Federation transfer policies.
