Councilman Robert Rickman issued a challenge Tuesday, Sept. 17, to fellow council members Charles Manne and Nancy Young about the Crosstown Classic between West and Tracy High schools.

Rickman, a Tracy High graduate, used his time at the end of the regular City Council meeting to propose a bet with Manne, a West graduate, and Young, whose children have all attended West.

The supporters of the losing varsity team will have to wear the winning team’s jersey or T-shirt during each of the two meetings of the City Council in October.

Manne said he still had his Wolf Pack jersey and looks forward to seeing the name “Manne” on Rickman’s back. Rickman, who said his football teammates called him “Crazy Legs,” has confidence the Bulldogs will prevail.

The 18th annual Crosstown Classic is at Tracy High’s Wayne Schneider Stadium,315 E. 11th St., starting at 7 p.m. Sept. 27.
