The city held a transportation fair at the Tracy Transit Center on Saturday, Sept 7.
Ed Lovell, management analyst for the Tracy Public Works Department, brought together representative from Altamont Corridor Express, the High Speed Rail Authority, San Joaquin County Council of Governments, San Joaquin Regional Transit District, the Tracer local bus system and the Greyhound bus line.
“We hope what they take away is they see that there are different transportation options for them to take advantage of,” Lovell said of residents who attended. “From Tracy, they can pretty much get to any other city in the county via RTD. They make connections here at the transit station. The Tracer bus primarily services areas in Tracy. The ACE takes people out to the Bay Area.”
Lifelong Tracy resident Susan Rodarte wanted to know about plans for ACE service to the downtown transit center.
“I don’t drive,” Rodarte said. “I just came to look at the ACE train, because I live across the track, and if it ran from here, I could take it.”
Emanuel Cansino hoped to end his Bay Area commute.
“I usually use my car, but I’m trying to get an option right now. Traffic is terrible,” Cansino said. “I was looking for connections and options for taking trains. I go to San Francisco with ACE and Caltrain and BART.”
