Most of us go around thinking everything is fine. If we can keep everything at the status quo, we’ll be OK.

Why deviate from what has been working? Our business will go on the way it always has. But maybe that isn’t true.

When was the last time you came up with a creative idea? For most business owners, the answer is something like, “I don’t know, probably a year or two ago.”

A couple good reasons to be creative are, No. 1, change and, No. 2, fun.

When things change and you come up with new ideas and new information, the energy — your energy — shifts. Things become fresh again. You no longer solve today’s challenges with yesterday’s solutions.

In this time of so many things shifting on the planet, what worked two years ago doesn’t work today. Change, although we resist it, feels good once you get to the other side.

When you take new ideas and mix them up, it is amazing what you can come up with.

The ancients mixed copper, a soft metal, and tin, which is even softer, and created hard bronze.

As you become more creative, you will find that generating new ideas is fun. Creative thinking uses the right side of the brain, which sometimes sits idle for too long. Using both sides of your brain brings balance to your body, your business and ultimately your life.

It is pleasurable to use your creative faculties. When you start to use that side of your thinking, it gets the juices flowing and more great ideas pop up.

See if you can look at the same things you see everyday and think differently about them. You might come up with a new process, a new product or a piece of art.

You definitely will have a new perspective. Try it.

Do you have empirical data to support this assertion? "Most" business owners I know are constantly looking for ways to get better be it through new advertising, adding services, better scheduling, streamlining clerical, etc. Standing pat is actually pretty rare from what I see everyday.

Keep in mind, although oft times neccesary to keep business profitable my first thought is always, change to what? Change just for the sake of change is not neccesarily a good thing - in business and life in general.

I have to ask, have you ever had your own money at risk when contemplating changes to a business model? This isn't negative, it's reality. Of course it's relative to the size of the business but changes can cost big money. It's easy to opine about changing but in doing so shouldn't the financial risks & other concerns also be mentioned?
