He died Sunday, Aug. 18, at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital.
Mr. Castro was born March 27, 1949, in Ladeira Grande, Terceira, Azores. He was a parishioner of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and a member of IPFES, PFSA and Luso American Society, all Portuguese fraternal associations, and Our Lady of Fatima Society.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Maria Natalie Castro of Tracy; a daughter, Diana Pereira, and her husband, Anselmo, of Livermore; two sons, John P. Castro of Tracy and Robert S. Castro of Clovis; and two grandchildren.
Also surviving are five siblings, Maria Lopes, Avelina Gaspar, and her husband, Joao, and Lourdes Couto, and her husband, Joao, all of Terceira, and Alzira Rocha, and her husband, Jose, and Antonio Castro, and his wife, Shirley, all of Modesto; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
The Mass will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave., followed by burial in Tracy Cemetery, 501 W. Schulte Road. Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave., is handling arrangements.
