He was diagnosed with lung cancer in November. Mr. Shultz, known as Leon, was born July 9, 1944, in Little Rock, Ark. His family moved to Banta when he was a child, and he attended Banta School and graduated from Tracy Joint Union High School in 1963. The Schultzes owned a hay hauling business in the Tracy area for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Cole Schultz, of Cedarville; three daughters, Sherece Regenor, and her husband, Col. James A. Regenor, of Colorado Springs, Colo.,Sheri Cockrell, and her husband, Robert, of Yerington, Nev., and Melissa Perry and her husband, George, of Manteca; a son, Fred Shultz, and his wife, Megan, of Alturas; a sister, Marsha Morris of Cabot, Ark.; a brother, Hershel Shultz of Cedarville; an aunt; and 10 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Oren L. Shultz Sr. and Grace Etheline Utter Shultz. A celebration of Mr. Shultz’s life is planned Sept. 21 at the fairgrounds in Cedarville. Graveside services took place Thursday, Aug. 22, at the family cemetery in Little Fir, Ark. Arrangements were handled by Thornton Funeral Home of Mount Ida.
