Lawrence Livermore National Security, which manages Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, is beginning its annual Community Gift Program, which benefits local and area nonprofit organizations.

The LLNS grants a total of $100,000 through the Community Gift Program to organizations supporting science, technology, engineering and mathematics education, and those that address community service needs in areas with large numbers of Lawrence Livermore Laboratory employees.

Nonprofit California educational institutions, 501(c)(3) organizations and government agencies serving San Joaquin, Alameda and Contra Costa counties are eligible to apply. Awards range from $1,000 to $20,000.

Interested organizations must submit an application to LLNS by Aug. 29. The awards will be announced by Oct. 31.

Additional information and applications are available at www.llnsllc.com.
