The Athletic Perfection cheer teams ended their competition season with three top finishes at the Jamfest Nationals in Long Beach on April 4 and 5.

The local cheer gym’s Tiny Cheer group took first place over three other teams. Small Youth Cheer group took first place over eight teams in the Level 2 division, and the Senior Open Cheer group also took a first place trophy in competition with eight other teams in Level 4.

“It’s definitely been our strongest season so far,” Athletic Perfection owner Julie Van Os said, adding that in eight or nine events this year, her teams have taken top honors in age groups ranging from under-5 to under-18.

Van Os said the Jamfest is the big event for teams from all across the West. Teams come from California, other Western states and as far away as Canada to compete.

Athletic Perfection’s Mini-Cheer team took fifth place out of 11 teams in Level 1 competition, and the Level 3 senior open cheer group was third among five teams in that division.
