A driver and passenger suffered minor injuries when the car in which they were riding crashed into a sound wall June 2 on Schulte Road.

Sgt. Steve Beukelman of Tracy Police Department said Wednesday, June 12, that a 2005 Lexus was speeding east on Schulte Road around 3 p.m. when the driver swerved to avoid another car coming from Joranollo Drive.

The driver of the Lexus overcorrected, causing the car to hit the curb and a light pole before striking the sound wall, Beukelman said.

There were four passengers in the Lexus, according to Beukelman.

He would not release their names, because no one was arrested or charged in the crash.

Witnesses told officers at the scene that the Lexus appeared to be racing with another car just before the accident.

However, police couldn’t find evidence to corroborate those claims, Beukelman said.
