Police and fire officials checked for a fire, but later learned there was a large fire in the Altamont hills that caused a blanket of smoke to drift toward the city.
Tracy police received 584 calls for service Friday, June 7 to Monday, June 10. The following is a sampling of those calls.
1:04 a.m.: Police arrested a 30-year-old man for battery in the Microtel Inn parking lot at 861 W. Clover Road.
6:08 a.m.: A woman told police someone might have thrown something explosive at her car on the 1400 block of Autumn Lane. She said the inside of her car was all black. Police are investigating.
10:49 a.m.: A man was detained in Lincoln Park, 170 E. Eaton Ave., for allegedly having a knife. Police found the man whittling wood with a small knife. He was advised to not whittle in the park.
12:59 p.m.: A couple of windows in the back of Family Bible Church, 72 E. Grant Line Road, were found to be broken.
4:36 p.m.: Police arrested a 24-year-old man for an alleged burglary at the warehouse of Mi Pueblo, 3225 N. Tracy Blvd. He was booked into San Joaquin County Jail.
8:03 p.m.: Three women were seen taking flowers out of yards on the 1400 block of Wilson Avenue.
8:36 p.m.: Police arrested a 43-year-old man at Motel 6, 3810 N. Tracy Blvd., for a parole violation.
12:53 a.m.: Police arrested a 33-year-old man on the 600 block of W. 11th Street for carrying a concealed dagger after a citizen flagged down officers.
2:27 a.m.: Police arrested two women, ages 21 and 24, following the report of a party at Motel 6 at 3810 N. Tracy Blvd. No charges were listed.
8:04 a.m.: Police arrested a 27-year-old man on the 2900 block of N. MacArthur Drive for domestic violence.
10:50 a.m.: Three girls under 3 years old allegedly damaged a resident’s yard on the 1500 block of Tanya Lane. The property owner said he took the children back to their house in the neighborhood. Police counseled an 18-year-old cousin for not supervising the children.
12:25 p.m.: Police arrested a 43-year-old woman for battery on the 100 block of West South Street. She was booked into county jail.
12:49 p.m.: Police arrested a 21-year-old man for drug charges near Lowell Avenue and Oxford Lane. He was taken to county jail.
1:00 p.m.: A catalytic converter was allegedly taken from a vehicle at Chesapeake Bay Apartments at 2941 W. Lowell Ave.
10:47 p.m.: A couple called to ask advice from officers after discovering their 16-year-old daughter had stolen $11,000 in cash from their safe on the 3100 block of Remington Way.
11:10 p.m.: Police arrested a 31-year-old woman on the 2200 block of Sudbury Court for battery.
11:21 p.m.: A man told police someone shot out his house window on the 1500 block of Peony Drive. He said the shot came from the front passenger of a car. Police checked and found only one pane of glass was broken and determined it was a beer bottle that broke the glass. Police are investigating.
7:17 a.m.: A woman reported someone stole her wallet while she was sleeping in her house on the 2300 block of Grant Line Road.
1:40 p.m.: A clerk at Black Bear Diner, 2351 Toste Road, reported catching a chicken in the parking lot.
4:56 p.m.: Police arrested a 55-year-old man on the 700 block of West Ninth Street for two outstanding warrants. Officers arrived because the man allegedly refused to leave a friend’s house. The warrants were for theft and drug paraphernalia.
10:06 p.m.: Police arrested a 23-year-old man at the Tracy Transit Station, 50 E. Sixth St., for several outstanding warrants from the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office. He also had a new drug possession charge.
11:25 p.m.: Several residents from various areas in the western part of the city reported hearing loud explosions, but police were unable to identify a cause.
6:37 a.m.: Police arrested a 31-year-old man for being drunk in public after a resident found him sleeping in his car on the 2600 block of Tennis Lane.
12:38 p.m.: Police arrested a 28-year-old woman on the 100 block of W. Carlton Place for domestic violence.
5:10 p.m.: Two men allegedly stole approximately $5,000 in merchandise from Macy’s, 3400 Naglee Road. They were last seen leaving West Valley Mall in a black van toward Corral Hollow Road.
6:00 p.m.: Police arrested a 38-year-old man on the 2000 block of Cabana Lane for domestic violence. He was booked into county jail.
