Hammer to team up with Feed the Children

At noon today, Tracy resident Stanley Burrell, better known by his stage names MC Hammer and Hammer, will work with international hunger relief organization Feed the Children to provide 400 Stockton families with boxes of food. The event will take place at Interfaith Food Bank, 2009 E. Main St., Stockton.

Relay team captain meeting

The Tracy Relay for Life foundation will have its next team captain meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at Kelly School, 535 Mabel Josephine Drive. Captains and team members can get information about the upcoming Relay, which is May 2 and 3 at Tracy High School. The meeting’s theme is “Give Cancer the Boot.” Each person who wears boots will have a chance to win prizes.

Event for Missing Children’s Day

A local group will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday to organize a local event on May 25, National Missing Children’s Day. The meeting will be at Perko’s Café, 1321 W. 11th St.

Fundraiser for Sandra

Kinder’s Meats Deli BBQ, 3243 W. Grant Line Road, will host a three-day fundraiser in memory of Sandra Cantu. From Thursday through Sunday, 20 percent of all proceeds will be added to the reward fund.

Latino Scholarship and Leadership Awards

The Tracy Hispanic Business Group will have its annual Latino Scholarship and Leadership Awards Ceremony from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday at the Tracy Community Center, 950 East St. The group will award scholarships to high school seniors in eight categories and leadership awards in six categories. Tickets are $25.

Easter Egg Hunt

At 9 a.m. Saturday, West High School’s California Scholarship Federation Club will have its 11th annual Easter Egg hunt at Dr. Powers Park, 900 W. Lowell Ave. Children of all ages are welcome, and there will also be a coloring contest.

Scholarship accepting applications

The Tim Mason Scholarship Fund is taking applications for its sixth annual scholarship for Tracy High School students. All applications are due April 16 and should be submitted to Evelyn Anastasio at Tracy High School.

The scholarship was set up in honor of a Tracy High student who was murdered 10 years ago. The fund awards $1,000 to a Tracy High senior interested in studying criminal justice.

Friday Night Dance

Tracy’s Teen Program will dance the night away one last time, from 7 to 10 p.m. May 1 at the Tracy Community Center, 950 East St. The dances offer middle school students a chance to hang out with friends and test their skills on Dance, Dance Revolution. Tickets are $5 at the door, $4 in advance.

Walk for Life

The Modesto Pregnancy Center will hold its 17th annual Walk for Life fundraiser from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. of Saturday, May 2, at Davis Park, 2701 College Ave., Modesto. Prizes will be given to the top walkers, and there will also be face painting and live music.

Free yoga day

If you want to do some yoga, or just watch the ancient art practiced, Tracy City Hall (333 Civic Center Plaza) will offer just the venue. Yoga instructor Michele Flores will lead the group and answer any questions during the event, from 10 a.m. to noon May 16.
