Softball: Bulldogs lock up SJAA title

The Tracy High softball team finished its regular season as the San Joaquin Athletic Association champions with a 7-1 win over Bear Creek High on Tuesday, May 7, at the Tracy Sports Complex.

The Bulldogs (22-4, 14-1 SJAA) are headed to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs on May 18 at the Sacramento Softball Complex.

Tracy finished off Bear Creek with eight base hits, including three by senior Brianna Warner and a double, a single and three RBIs by senior Angela Mariani.

Junior pitcher Tayler Misfeldt allowed two hits and struck out eight batters over seven innings.



West 10, Stagg 1

The Wolf Pack softball team finished a perfect Tri-City Athletic League season with a win at Stagg High on Friday, May 3.

West (21-6, 10-0 TCAL) pounded out 17 base hits, including two doubles and a single by senior Ashley Tornio, who also batted in three runs. Sophomore Shelby Weeks went five-for-five and senior Ciara Ervin also had three hits. Freshman pitcher Janae Sims got the win, giving up two hits over seven innings.

West also begins the Division I playoffs on May 18 in Sacramento.



Millennium 18, Elliot Christian 12

The Falcon softball team confirmed its second straight Central California Athletic Alliance title with a win in Lodi over Elliot Christian on Wednesday, May 8.

The Falcons (15-6, 8-0 CCAA) will play in the SJS Division VII playoffs on Thursday, May 16, at the Lodi Softball Complex. Five-time defending Division VII champion Elliot (12-8, 6-2 CCAA) also heads to the playoffs.

Leading the Falcons at the plate were junior Gabrielle Ramirez, who had a triple, two singles and four RBIs, and freshman Elisa Deras, with two hits and two RBIs.

Senior starting pitcher Breana Reyes threw 4 1/3 innings and Amy Wise finished in relief.



Kimball 12, Lathrop 2

The Jaguars finished off the visiting Lathrop Spartans on Tuesday at Kimball High in Kimball’s last Valley Oak League game of the season.

Kimball (20-6, 11-3 VOL) finished the league season tied for second place with Oakdale. Sierra High (12-2 VOL) is the league champion.

Kimball collected 18 hits Tuesday, including a home run and a double by Danielle Lallos. Allison Corliss and Arianna Hawkins had three hits each. Kimball pitcher Amanda Riley went all five innings, allowed four hits and struck out six batters.

Kimball also got a win this week over crosstown rival West in a 7-5 nonleague victory.

Senior Anisha Richardson hit a solo homer in the third inning, and the Jaguars sealed the win with a four-run fourth inning, which included a Lallos triple and a Corliss double.

The Jaguars logged a 12-0 win over the visiting Weston Ranch Cougars on Friday at Kimball High. Richardson set the tone for the rest of the game when she blasted a bases-loaded triple to the left-field fence in the first inning.

Kimball is now headed to the SJS Division IV playoffs, which begins Wednesday, May 15, at Arnaiz Fields in Stockton.
