Police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a bank in the Red Maple Village Shopping Center on Monday, April 29.

Tracy police were notified at 10:36 a.m. that the alleged robber had entered the Chase Bank, 2620 N. Tracy Blvd., Ste. 110, and handed a teller a note demanding money.

No weapon was shown, and the man escaped with an undisclosed amount of money, according to Detective Greg Gilstrap of the Tracy Police Department.

Gilstrap said the man is black, about 25 to 30 years old and is 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build and a thin goatee.

He was wearing dark sunglasses, a long-sleeved white shirt and a gray hat, according to Gilstrap.

At the scene, detectives were looking at a still shot of the alleged robber from security camera images at the bank.

No injuries were reported, and there were at least two customers inside the bank during the robbery. It’s unknown how many bank employees were working.

Gilstrap said a witness outside the bank saw the man leaving the shopping center in a green vehicle going west on Valpico Road.

An officer responding to the robbery spotted a green Lexus ES 500 sedan with two black males as it traveled south on Tracy Boulevard, south of Valpico Road, according to Gilstrap.

The officer made a traffic stop and the two men were detained, but released after the witness did not identify either one as the robbery suspect, Gilstrap said.

Come on people, those of you who have been in Tracy long enough know the routine. Summer is coming and the schools will be letting out.

It is BANK ROBBING/HOUSE BURGLARY season.

To DTBB1445.

Looks as though you have little to say but insult people. When I mean "simply put", I "mean simply put" not also. (DUH) Also, the Atm machines typically have a camera in the machine that is taking close up video of the person that is using the machine, and no it doesn't run all of the time, and then there is another camera that is typically recording video of the machine off in the distance which runs all of the time. Typical industry standard is 50 feet with a wide angle lens, but no cameras looking around the parking lot. So not DTB, there are no cameras that are looking to Video get away cars in a ATM machine! Work for one of the Big 3 banks, so I am well aware. (DOUBLE DUH)

Mr or mrs Edwards, sorry I ment "PublicCitizen", stop with the racist implications of "It figures". No one is impressed with you coining that term.

What makes no sense, with all of the technology available how can we not have a photo of the suspect? Take a picture of everyone entering and moving about the bank, not that difficult. And when the bank is robbed, immediately post the photo online. Like now, not in three days. There has to be a better system out there.

To Monsterdad3k, I have no problems with my bank, simple put, stay away from the Big 3 Banks, they wake up in the morning trying to find a way to take more money from people. Been there and done it, and used to work for one of them to! A burning question that I have never understood. Banks have cameras inside, why don't they have cameras outside pointing in multiple directions with the hope of discouraging people from robbing the bank, and the added benefit of likely getting video of the getaway car. Just a thought!

Simply put, when you mean also.. too is spelled with two o's. All ATM's have cameras which take constant pictures of the outside of banks. (DUH) The reason they don't post these types of pictures is because they don't want the bank robbers to know where all the cameras are so they can get good pictures of them and their get-away cars. (DOUBLE DUH)

Can't blame the robber really. If Chase is screwing with him like they are with me then he probably got fed up with it and went in and got all the money they stole from him back.

It's the little guy vs. the Goliath bank.

They're big, I'm small and they won't do anything they don't want to do despite my requesting them to do so several occasions. No business ethics whatsoever. They don't care who they screw or how they do it, they will take all your money and laugh at you in your face when you try to get them to make changes. What are my options?

Stop paying them and destroy my credit all over again? Already been through a Chapter 13.

How many years and how much of my money do they get to keep from the 10.5% interest rate they have on my mortgage? It really sucks getting screwed financially by a big bank and there isn't anything you can do about it until your house value rises. Can't blame the guy at all.

Hope he got all his money back.

Don't think he's being screwed with. Most people worried about their accounts are worried because they have scruples and would not rob a bank. Sounds like anther simple low life criminal to me.

Thank You KimB. Maybe more security is needed in that shopping center?

They will get the man one day: Security cameras and witnesses help much.

My memory is not perfect, but wasn't a Chase bank robbed earlier?
